No matter how carefully written a text/presentation is, it might contain some slips of the pen- small grammar, spelling and content mistakes. Our freelance proofreaders are absolutely accurate and mindful in their work to raise the quality and success of your paper.
After finishing the long writing process of an academic work, students often tend to overestimate their writing programs and do not attach importance to a careful revision and proofreading of their writings. In most cases, computer programs with an integrated proofreading service in English mark obvious errors, but leave out bad syntax and grammar. Especially when it comes to academic works with specialised content, technical terms are most of the time not recognised by programs. With our professional proofreading services you avoid unpleasant embarrassment in front of your professors, colleagues or even your boss.
A friend or family member can help as proofreader, noticing obvious mistakes, but not when it comes to topic related terms and their correct use. Regardless of what kind of academic paper you have to write, it is always advisable to let your paper be checked by a proof reader who is familiar with the topic and does not only correct obvious mistakes but also examines the work in depth and finds discrepancies in the content. If choosing our professional proofreading services, we will ensure that your text is free of any mistakes before published.

Job of a proofreader
A proof reader checks a text for possible mistakes and corrects them before the text is ultimately submitted. Proofreaders are required to eliminate any deficiencies and to create a flawless text. Traditionally, proofreading was used for detection of mistakes that appeared in print, when types were set. Nowadays it includes various fields of activity.
Proofreading activities
The basic part of the activities a proofreader does is the check-up of both orthography and grammar. The proofreader analyses the text by means of the currently valid spelling rules. This also includes the correct use of punctuation. Furthermore, professional proofreaders pay attention to the linguistic expression of the text, which has to be suitable for the recipient. In many cases, text formatting and stylistics are proofread as well. On the other hand, proofreaders have to be separated from editors who also make corrections with regards to content, word choice and style.
Methods of proofreading
The most professional method of proofreading is copy reading, which involves two people. One reads the text out loud slowly, the other writes down peculiarities in the printed text. The corrections have to be transferred to the document afterwards.
Another method to proofread a text is double reading. It also involves two or more proofreaders, but in contrast to the copy reading, the text is proof read independently by all readers. The corrections of both amendments have to be integrated afterwards. To avoid this later integration, double reading in chronological order is also possible – only the latter amendment has to be added afterwards.
Scanning is a concluding technique to proofread a text. The proofreader does not read the text word by word, but browses it instead. Thus, the accurate checking of the text in the above-mentioned areas has to already have taken place. During the scanning process only a final check of the formatting is usually carried out.
Areas where proofreaders are needed
A professional proofreader works mostly within the economic sector, which also includes publishing companies. Besides the general activities in proofreading, a proofreader pays special attention to correct formatting in accordance with the stylistic guidelines of the company.
In the academic field, a proofreader is also indispensable. For larger projects, such as a dissertation or a habilitation treatise, it is highly recommended to consult with an expert proofreader. Only by doing so, the submission of a perfect piece of work is guaranteed.
